The theme of “7 billion reasons for peace” perfectly captures the essence of Prem Rawat’s message. At the core of Prem’s thinking is the belief that every human being has the right to peace and that every child born on this earth can attain that peace. It is this optimistic and empowering message that enables Prem to inspire and move people the way that he does.
Since the age of 13, when he first touched down in the UK, Prem has addressed crowds armed with nothing except the feelings in his heart and a deep desire to impact change on the people he speaks to. Neither politically nor religiously affiliated, his message has touched the hearts of millions of people – young and old, rich and poor, educated and uneducated – providing a new perspective and enhanced enjoyment of life. Throughout it all, the core thrust of Prem’s work has remained: that we can control our destiny, that we should lead by example, and that we should represent the change we hope to see in the world.
Having overcome the forces of skepticism in his early years, Prem nevertheless speaks from the book of positivity, putting forth the highly intuitive idea of an inner desire for peace that is fulfilled not by looking at others but by looking inwards. As he himself says: “In the heart of every human being is also a want. A wish to be content, a wish to be at peace. Peace is not the absence of war. Peace is a fundamental human need that needs to be felt from within”.
Prem has also used his brand as a force for good. In support of the ultimate goal of Dignity, Peace and Prosperity, and as we have heard he set up The Prem Rawat Foundation in 2001 to address shortfalls in the provision of basic necessities in some of the world’s most impoverished regions. By the end of 2011, The Prem Rawat Foundation had made 116 grants to aid people in 34 countries on five continents. This is an achievement of great magnitude.
He is someone who does not compromise on his principles, displays tremendous resilience against sustained pressure, and ultimately puts the needs of humans and of humanity first. Prem Rawat is a man worthy of anyone’s admiration and truly a guiding light for humanity and for peace.
