On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, American illusionist David Blaine pulled off a balloon stunt — with the help from famed skydiver Luke Aikins, who jumped with no parachute (in 2016).
The live stream special called “Ascension” was broadcasted exclusively on YouTube and attracted 6,165,926 views in 17 hours.
Both Blaine and Aikins were recipients of The BrandLaureate International Brand Personality Awards in 2014 and 2016.
During the stunt, Blaine rose to 25,000 feet above the Arizona desert carried by 52 helium-filled balloons and is believed to be
the highest anyone has ascended via “cluster ballooning,” Variety reported. The performance took about an hour from lift-off to landing.

Aikins made headlines in 2016 when he jumped from 25,000 feet over California’s Simi Valley without a parachute and landed safely — at about 120 mph — in a specially designed net.
