HUAWEI surpassed Apple to become the world’s second best selling smartphone manufacturer in 2019, according to market research firms.

Sales in China helped Huawei sell 240 million phones, compared to just shy of 200 million for Apple — even as the firm faced US sanctions and its new phones were barred from the Google Play store that year.

South Korea’s Samsung remained on top after selling nearly 300 million phones in the year, while China’s Xiaomi and Oppo rounded up the top five.
