As one of Americaโ€™s most recognizable media figures, King has conducted more than 30,000 interviews during his career which spanned 63 years. He has also won numerous awards and global acclaim for his unique talent.

Born on November 19, 1933 in Brooklyn, King got his break as a morning DJ in Miami Beach, Florida, in 1957, and expanded to national broadcasting in 1978, as he cultivated a devoted audience with his meandering interviews and personal digressions.

With his trademark suspenders, gravelly Brooklyn accent, and under-prepared questioning, King hosted the flagship CNN show โ€Larry King Liveโ€ for 25 years from 1985 to 2010.

Amongst the notable public figures he has interviewed include Yasser Arafat, Nelson Mandela and Vladimir Putin, every president from Richard Nixon to his friend Donald Trump, and celebrities from Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga.

The acclaimed broadcaster known for his soft interview style, liked to ask short direct, and uncomplicated questions, whether he was interviewing a US president, foreign leader, celebrity, scandal-ridden personage, or an everyman.

The show drew up to 1.5 million viewers a night at the height of his career until he was replaced by British TV personality Piers Morgan in 2010.

Larry King will be sadly missed. May his soul R.I.P.
