PM tables 12th Malaysia Plan
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob unveiled the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) on Sept. 27, 2021, with the objective of transforming the nation into ‘a Prosperous, Inclusive and Sustainable — Keluarga Malaysia’ during the five-year (from 2021 until 2025) period.
The plan also pays special attention to closing the income gap and development in some of Malaysiaโs least-developed states, such as Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo.
In his speech at the tabling of the 12MP in the Dewan Rakyat, Ismail Sabri today said the development blueprint will determine the country’s strategic direction with focus given towards effort to restart and rejuvenate economic growth, ensuring equal distribution of the prosperity of the nation apart from maintain the sustainability of the environment.
The 12MP, he said, was developed at a time when the world is facing severe challenges, brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, as several key goals of the 11th Malaysia Plan, which ended last year, had not been met.
As part of the goals for a high-income economy, the premier has also set a target for the average household income to reach about RM10,000 a month by 2025 – an increase of around 40 percent over the current average of RM7,160.
