Starbucks brewing up ‘Taylor’s Latte’
AMERICAN singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has teamed up with Starbucks so that fans and customers can order her signature drink — a grande caramel non-fat latte.
Customers who ask for “Taylor’s Latte” or “Taylor’s Version” will receive the singer’s favorite drink: a grande caramel non-fat latte.
This latest collaboration between the fast-food chain and a celebrity is being launched to celebrate Starbucks’ holiday red-colored cups and the re-release of Swift’s album Red.
The coffee chain posted a video tribute to Swift on Twitter, featuring the drink, the number 13 (Swift’s lucky number), and her infamous red in conjunction with the re-release of Swift’s album Red on November 12.
The singer is currently in the midst of re-recording her first five albums in an effort to have ownership over her own music again after Big Machine Records sold her catalog in a reported $300 million deal.
Swift is in the midst of re-recording and releasing her past albums because she now owns the master recordings of her songs.
Swift said: “It never would have been possible to go back and remake my previous work, uncovering lost art and forgotten gems along the way. if you hadn’t emboldened me,” the singer told fans on Twitter. “Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours.”
Starbucks (SBUX) is the latest restaurant chain to tap into a celebrity’s star power to boost sales. Swift’s favorite drink is already on the menu, so the promotion creates buzz without adding costs or extra work for employees.
This past week, McDonald’s (MCD) announced a partnership with singer Mariah Carey for a special menu, and Tim Horton’s partnered with Justin Bieber for a limited-edition selection of donuts dubbed “Timbiebs Timbits.”
