KUALA LUMPUR: The Edge Media Group, publisher of The Edge weekly and The Edge Financial Daily (FD), will cease its FD publication today (April 22, 2020)
In a notice on FD yesterday, publisher and chief executive officer Ho Kay Tat and editor in chief Azam Aris said the daily publication was unable to survive the double onslaught of the shift to digital news and current lockdown of the economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
โThis (today) will, therefore, be the last stories ofย our journalists will write for you (readers),โ they said.
However, the media company said its websiteย www.theedgemarkets.comย would update readers on major market-moving stories during weekdays, besides The Edge Weekly, which hits the streets at the weekend.
Established on May 22, 2007, the Edge Media Group had been publishing the FD in the last 13 years.
โWe had embarked on an ambitious project just as the global financial crisis of 2007-2009 was breaking out.
โBut we survived and published continuously since, except when FD and The Edge weekly were suspended in July 2015 by the Home Ministry over its reporting of 1Malaysia Development Bhd,โ they added.
