Congratulations to Lee Zii Jia for winning the All England Open badminton singles finals after a hard-fought battle against Viktor Axelsen from Denmark on March 21, 2021.

The victory brings a much-needed cheer to all Malaysians, amidst the doom and gloom of Covid-19.

It was a challenging match that brought seat gripping excitement to all Malaysians watching the men’s singles final “Live” from Arena Birmingham.

The grueling match with long rallies and neck-to-neck score was a test of character for both players.

Finally, Zii pushed through with a victory cry to capture the All England crown with an impressive record of 30-29, 20-22, 21-9 win over Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen — who was visibly a spent force by the end of the game.

As the announcer aptly puts it: “For one player exhilaration and the other devastation.”

To the question of who is the next Lee Chong Wei, the answer is obvious. Zii who is the World’s No.10 is also the first Malaysian to win the prestigious title after Lee Chong Wei in 2017.

The 23-year-old Kedah-born shuttler joined the likes of Wong Peng Soon, Eddie Choong, Tan Aik Huang, Hafiz Hashim, and Chong Wei to win the All England title.

Thank you once again Zii Jia for impressive performance, and for making Malaysians proud through your much deserving victory at the All England championship.
