We, at The BrandLaureate, are deeply saddened by the passing of the remarkable YBhg Datin Paduka Sister Enda Ryan, recipient of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗡 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟭 – 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. Fondly known as Sister Enda, she was not only the esteemed founder but also the beloved headmistress of Assunta all-girls school.
Sister Enda’s journey of selfless service and dedication began in 1955 when she first arrived in then-Malaya. Her visionary leadership and tireless efforts led to the establishment of Assunta primary and secondary schools, providing a haven for education and empowerment for countless young girls to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Beyond the realm of academia, her compassionate spirit led her to play a pivotal role in the establishment of Ave Maria Clinic, which evolved into Assunta Hospital today.
Throughout her illustrious career spanning over three decades, Sister Enda’s contributions earned her numerous accolades, including the Excellent Service Award from the Ministry of Education (1985), the Pingat Jasa Cemerlang (1986), the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK.) from DYMM Sultan of Selangor (1987), and the Anugerah Tokoh Guru Selangor (1990). In 2007, she was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Dato’ Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah by the Sultan of Selangor, which carries the title ‘Datin Paduka.’
Today, we remember Sister Enda as an embodiment of compassion, a pioneer of education, and a symbol of selfless service. As we bid farewell to a beautiful soul, let us honour her legacy by continuing to uphold the values she championed and emulate the profound impact she made on our world. May her soul rest in peace.
