A hero of his nation,
A victor on the field,
An inspiration to multitudes,
A legend forever, Pelé.
It was the dawn of a golden era for the iconic yellow Brazilian team football shirt, at 17, Pelé scored a hattrick and a semifinal victory, then netted two more goals in the final game that secured a victory for Brazil’s first-ever World Cup win.
Pelé was widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and labelled “the greatest” by FIFA, he was among the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century. Pelé was a proud recipient of The BrandLaureate Legendary Award 2015.
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” – Pelé. Pelé was not only recognized as a football legend but also a recognized philanthropist. Pelé’s legacy continues with his contribution to children’s welfare, improving the lives of young people everywhere, particularly those with underprivileged backgrounds like him. Pelé’s heart for younger generation is evident in his conduct, in his speech, and in his own Pelé foundation where he found practical ways to enable and inspire youth, both on and off the field.
