Congratulations to Prof Dato’ Wah Idris, an award-winning composer, accomplished musician, and record producer for receiving the World’s Music Icon BrandLeadership Award.
An industry mover and shaker with 30 years experience, Dato’ Wah has made a name for himself through his astounding success and contributions to Malaysia’s music industry — as a celebrity icon, international award-winning composer, pianist, and TV3 Mentor7 judge amongst others.
He is the man behind the composition of many well-known theme songs including `Standing In The Eyes Of The World’ — a song specially composed for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
The year 1998 was a historic moment for Dato’ Wah, who branded Malaysia to the world with the beautiful theme song “Standing in the Eyes of the World” sung by Malaysia’s Queen of Rock, Ella. He co-wrote the song with superstar David Gates from the band “The Bread” during the KL Commonwealth Games’98 in Malaysia.
In 2003, Dato’ Wah rearranged and reorchestrated “NegaraKu” and conducted the world-class Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, endorsed by the Government and launched by His Royal Highness (The King) during Merdeka Day Celebrations in Putrajaya.
In 2007, Dato’ Wah was chosen to write an anthem song “Malaysia Truly Asia” under the Ministry of Tourism which was heard not only in Malaysia but was played around the world.
