Born on September 22, 1958 in Tuscany Italy, Andrea Bocelli is a well-known singer, songwriter, and record producer.
Diagnosed with congenital glaucoma since birth, he became blind at age 12 due to a brain haemorrhage, after being hit on the head playing football.
As a child, his musical talents were evident and he learnt how to play the piano at 6, flute and saxophone.
A “modern but old fashioned tenor”, he first tasted success singing ‘O Sole Mio’ at a singing competition in 1970. He studied voice under Luciano Bettarini and Franco Corelli.
Bocelli went on to study law and became a court-appointed lawyer after graduation for a year before immersing himself in the world of music.
He was discovered by Caterina Caselli and was signed to her record label Sugar and made his debut on the operatic stage in 1994 in Verdi’s MacBeth.
“Romanza” was released and become a chart-topper across the globe. Since then he has released 15 studio albums, 3 compilation albums and 4 collaborative albums.
His second album “Bocelli” featured the hit “Con te partirò”, which he also sang with Sarah Brightman on TV. Three years later, his international debut album

In 2010 Bocelli was awarded his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was recipient of The BrandLaureate Legendary Awards in 2015.
He is married with three children and has shared the stage with his son Matteo, who sang in Italian and English on his album Sì.
