KUALA LUMPUR, Friday (June 5, 2020) — Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin unveiled a host of measures aimed at alleviating the worst effects of the Covid-19 pandemic during a live broadcast at 3pm Friday (June 5) as part of the government’s Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan.
Amongst the items include:

• 40 initiatives worth RM35 billion under Penjana to stimulate the economy, of which RM10 billion will be direct fiscal injections by the government.

• Six months’ salary for the unemployed under a hiring incentive program, worth RM800 per month for those aged below 40, and RM1,000 per month for the disabled and those aged above 40.

• RM2 billion allocated for skills improvement programs for youths and the unemployed, benefiting over 200,000 people.
