YBhg Dato’ A. Samad Said, who won The BrandLaureate Brand ICON Leadership Awards – Most Eminent Brand Icon 2021, is a national treasure known for his aesthetic and enduring literary works.
Despite beginning his career as a hospital clerk, he eventually fulfilled his dream of being a full-time writer in Utusan Melayu, Warta Tebrau, and Berita Harian, penning numerous short stories and poems. โSalinaโ, โErti Sebuah Kemerdekaanโ, and โHujan Pagiโ are just a few of his notable works. He was recognised with the title of Pejuang Sastera in 1976 and Sasterawan Negara in 1986 for his contributions to the nationโs literary heritage. In 1979, he was also honoured as the first South-East Asian writer to win the SEA Write Award.
His passion continues to enrich Malaysiaโs literary heritage, encouraging new generations of writers to appreciate the beauty of language and inspiring brands to emulate his success.
